TREATMENT: MENTOPLASTY
DURATION: 20-40 MINUTES
TYPE: DAY-SURGERY
PAIN: MODERATE
A chin disproportionately creates insecurity and discomfort in the patient. The fix for this defect restores harmony to the face and a new perception of themselves through a more balanced facial profile.
The intervention of the average duration of 20-40 minutes is generally done under local anesthesia with sedation unless it is not associated with other procedures such as rhinoplasty and in that case the anesthesia is general.
The mentoplasty can be both reduction of that increase, depending on the need. The reduction is through a bone partial removal; the increase can occur through a bone remodeling (osteotomy of feed) or through the inclusion of a silicone implant.
Normally the scars of mentoplasty are not visible because the incisions are practiced inside the mouth or at the normal furrow under-chin. In the case in which the incision is made below the chin, a residual and a thin linear scar of a few centimeters that within a few months it is practically invisible.
The patient during the first few days will experience some swelling in the affected area and can resume normal activities after about 7 days.
